Retriever Alumni Update – Nov. 24, 2009

With the Thanksgiving holiday almost here, we decided to move up the update. Happy holidays to everyone as five former Retrievers were in action on three different continents.

Professional Basketball

In Denmark, former Retriever Darryl Proctor and the Bakken Bears impoved to 10-3 on the season and have won six games in a row. Proctor has scored 21 in each of the last two contests, with the Bears defeating the Hørsholm 79ers, 87-67, on the 15th and SISU CPH, 91-87, last Thursday. In the game against theh 79ers, DP was 11-for-12 from the line. Proctor is averaging 19.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 steals per game this season.

Down in Slovenia, former Dawg Andrew Feeley led Elektra Esotech to a 79-75 win over Šenčur CP Kranj on Saturday. Feeley 29 points and 12 boards in 36 minutes of play. He is averaging 17.7 points and 8.8 rebounds a game, which are fourth and third in the league.

Over in Japan, Mike Housman and Toyota Tsusho lead the JBL2 with a 7-0 record after picking up wins against the Scorpions Gosei, 82-59 on Saturday, and the Ishikawa Bruce Parks, 100-85 on Sunday. Against the Scorpions, Housman had eight points and six rebounds in 13 minutes, while against Ishikawa, he had six and six in seven minutes. He leads the JBL2 in rebounds, averaging 11.3 per game, while his 16.9 points per game is fifth.

Major Indoor Soccer League

The Baltimore Blast have begun their championship defense and are 1-1 on the season. In the season opener, Giuliano Celenza scored a goal in the Blast’s 10-8 overtime loss to Rockford in a rematch of last year’s title game. In the Blast’s 19-8 win over Philadelphia, Billy Nelson tallied a three-point goal.
