Weekly Awards Blog – Nov. 24, 2009 – Volleyball Year-End Awards

Throughout the 2009-10 school year, the UMBC Dawg Blog will keep track of all of UMBC’s accolades. This week, volleyball year-end awards were announced and swimming and diving had its final meet of 2009.

Bush becomes the fourth Retriever to earn the Rookie of the Year honor in five seasons. Sarah Ball won it in 2005, while senior Ashley Oscars and Alyssa Lang won it in 2006 and 2008, respectively.

Bush, who tied for the most Rookie of the Week selections this year with four, is second on the Retrievers, averaging 2.48 kills per set, while hitting .233, third on the team. She has also added 68 digs, 29 total blocks and 10 service aces.

Lang leads the team with 232 kills (3.14 kps) and is second on the team with 186 digs (2.51 dps). She led the team with eight double-doubles this year, while also adding 16 aces.

Ali Loynachan – Volleyball
