Retriever Alumni Update – October 22, 2009

This week in the Retriever Alumni Update, two former basketball stars make their debuts while another shines in Denmark.

Professional Basketball

Former Dawg Darryl Proctor led the Bakken Bears to a 98-80 victory at Amager last Saturday. Proctor picked up a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds. He also picked up six steals on his way to being named team MVP for the second consecutive game. The Bears return to action Sunday when they host Næstved.

Down in Slovenia, Andrew Feeley made his debut with the Elektra Esotech, a team in the Premier A Slovenian Basketball League. Elektra won a close game 75-73 on Saturday, with Feeley leading the team with 20 points and 13 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Elektra returns to action this Saturday when they face PRO-TEK Zasavje.

Over in Japan, Mike Housman made his debut with Feeley’s former team Toyota Tsusho, where he too recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in a 81-68 win over Tokyo Big Blue. Housman made 10 of 13 free throws in just 21 minutes of action. Toyota Tsusho return to action Sunday when they play at Kagoshima Renova.

As always, if you know of any former Retrievers playing in professional or semi-professional leagues around the world, please email tfenster@umbc.edu and we’ll start tracking them. Thanks for reading.
