Retriever Alumni Update – May 5

This week the Retriever Alumni Update looks at Brendan Mundorf and the New York’s first round playoff game in National League Lacrosse, along with a Brian Rowland update with local Crystal Palace USA and a first update on former Major League pitcher Wayne Franklin.

National League Lacrosse

Brendan Mundorf – New York Titans

Mundorf had four goals and two assists in the Titans’ 11-10 overtime win over the Rochester Knighthawks in the first round of the NLL playoffs. New York was behind 10-8 with under five minutes to go in regulation, but the Titans got three straight scores from Casey Powell to move on to the East Division Final against the Buffalo Bandits on May 9 at 7:30 p.m. For more info on the Titans, please visit here.

United Soccer League – Division II

Brian Rowland – Crystal Palace FC USA

Rowland was named to the USL-2 Team of the Week for the week ending April 26, then was in net for Crystal Palace’s 2-0 shutout of the Charlotte Eagles on Friday, May 1. He was also made three saves in CPFC’s 3-0 loss to the Wilmington Hammerheads on Saturday, May 2. Rowland’s next game is Saturday, May 9 against the Real Maryland Monarchs. Atlantic League – Independent Minor League Baseball

Wayne Franklin – York Revolution

Franklin has made three appearances for the independent-affiliated Revolution, striking out five in four innings with a 4.50 ERA. York plays the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs in three game series starting tonight, then at the Somerset Patriots in a three game series over the weekend.
