Retriever Alumni Update – April 23

This week on the Former Retriever Alumni report, the Dawg Blog has updates on Brian Rowland and Kevin Gnatiko on their season opener for Crystal Palace USA, Ray Barbosa’s Puerto Rico debut and the final week in National League Lacrosse.


United Soccer League Second Division


Brian Rowland, Kevin Gnatiko – Crystal Palace FC USA


Rowland started in net against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds on Friday, April 17 as Crystal Palace FC USA opened its season. He earned a clean sheet as the game ended in a 0-0 tie. Gnatiko came on in the 61st to make his first USL-2 appearance.


Palace returns to action on Friday at 7:30 p.m. when they play host to the Bermuda Hogges at UMBC Stadium. For more information on Crystal Palace, please visit here.


Baloncesto Superior Nacional


Ray Barbosa – Vaqueros de Bayamon


Barbosa made his professional debut for Bayamon in Puerto Rico against Criollos de Caguas on Sunday April 19, playing eight minutes off the bench. He went 1-for-3 from the field and grabbed two rebounds in the 99-96 win.


Barbosa and Bayamon play Ponce Thursday night, before playing Humacao on Saturday. For more information (translated to English by Google) please visit here.


National League Lacrosse


Brendan Mundorf – New York Titans


Mundorf concluded the regular season with a hat trick in a Titan 12-10 win over the Minnesota Swarm. Mundorf finished the regular season with 28 goals and 31 assists.


Mundorf and the Titans will move on to the NLL playoffs where they will face off with Rochester on Friday, May 1 at Madison Square Garden. For more information on the Titans, please visit their site here.


Dan Marohl – Minnesota Swarm


Marohl finished his 2009 NLL season with two goals in a 12-10 loss to the New York Titans. The former Retriever ends the year with 20 goals and 25 assists with an impressive .202 shooting percentage on 99 shots.

Drew Westervelt, Jon Harasym – Philadelphia Wings


The former Retriever duo completed their indoor seasons last Saturday in an 11-8 loss at Rochester, with both picking up an assist in the game. Westervelt finished the season with 34 goals and 20 assists, while Harasym finished with 11 points, including three goals.
